Scout Bartlett interviews Evan Mehlenbacher, a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. (06/30/2014)
Evan Mehlenbacher, CSB
Evan Mehlenbacher is a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science who has practiced prayer-based healing professionally for over 25 years. He has authored many published articles on spirituality and healing and has been a contributing editor to the Christian Science periodicals printed by The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, MA. Also, as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, Evan has spoken to over 700 audiences throughout North America and in other parts of the world. He has given dozens of media interviews on Christian Science during his travels and has spoken to worldwide audiences over the web for several live internet chats.
After graduating from Stanford University with a BA in economics, Evan joined the family business–a large farming venture in Washington State that included apple, plum, and cherry orchards. After working successfully for five years into the management of the business with his father, he decided his heart was elsewhere and transitioned into a full-time career of helping and healing others through Christian Science Mind-healing, fulfilling a desire he had cherished from a young age.
A turning point for Evan in his decision to change careers was a visit he made to an elderly woman who was suffering from arthritis. Evan sat and prayed with her. The woman soon reported a lessening of pain and stiffness. She was so impressed with her ability to walk freely again that she told her friends. People started to call Evan to pray for them, and his public practice of healing others through prayer was born.
Evan has an office in Richland, Washington, USA, where he conducts his public practice of helping others spiritually. He is listed in the Christian Science Journal as a full-time practitioner and teacher under Richland, Washington, where he lives with his wife Kathy and two college-aged children.
